Consultant and Senior Consultant

We are growing fast and looking for new graduates or consultants with 1-5 years of experience from top-tier management consulting firms to join our team. If you are looking for a career as a management consultant and you have an interest in sustainability, climate and natural resource issues you are who we’re looking for. Material Economics offers an unrivalled combination of the fast learning curve in management consulting and expertise in the most important strategic topic many companies are facing today.

As a consultant at Material Economics you will be given the opportunity to help solve complex problems impacting companies and society and drive the field of sustainable business strategy forward. We offer the opportunity to join a high calibre and fun team, working on some of the most relevant issues of the day.

Material Economics is a management consulting firm advising companies on the link between sustainability and business performance. We believe that sustainability is now a strategy issue. It also is increasingly complex. Tackling these issues requires a specialized management consulting firm of the highest quality. Our work goes to the heart of our clients’ business, targeting core business strategy issues arising from the ongoing sustainability disruption. The work we do makes a real difference – both on the policy level where we break new ground with our reports for the EU and beyond, and by affecting the strategic decisions of big corporations.

We are 15 people so far, with previous experience from top-tier consulting firms and from industry, including McKinsey, Bain, PwC and Capgemini among others. Per-Anders Enkvist, founder and CEO of Material Economics, was one of the founders of McKinsey's Sustainability and Resource Productivity business area. You can read more about our thoughts and vision in the book A Good Disruption, co-written by Per-Anders.

The role as a consultant

As a consultant at Material Economics, you will be working in a diverse team with substantial experience, advising companies and organizations on key strategic issues related to sustainability. You will build your understanding of complex business problems and sustainability questions, and develop new skills and experience as you grow in the company. You will rapidly be responsible for specific parts of projects, and work together with experienced team members to formulate key insights for clients.

The types of projects we do span from strategy engagements for large companies, to research-focused projects advancing the field of climate and material sustainability.

At Material Economics, each person is a key part in building and developing the company. You will be encouraged to take initiative and contribute to the development of your own as well as the company’s role.

We are looking for talented people with:
  • Very strong academic track record with a Master or equivalent degree in engineering, finance, economics or related disciplines
  • Drive and passion about making a difference
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
  • Social skills, who enjoy teamwork
  • An interest in strategic sustainability topics
  • The ability to work proactively and independently driving work streams

In Senior Consultants we are also looking for significant previous experience from top-tier management consulting.

We are open to other backgrounds and degrees if we find the right person.
